Is Acupuncture Safe?

Acupuncture is one of the safest forms of medical treatment when it is administered properly by a licensed veterinary acupuncturist. Side effects are rare but do exist. Some animals may become lethargic for 24 hours after acupuncture, others may feel relaxed or energized after treatment. These effects are an indication that physiological changes are developing and they are most often followed by an improvement in the animal’s condition. The response to an acupuncture treatment is different for each animal and so are the effects.
